SLM panel. The triple frame rate provides operation with frequency up to 180 Hz (for EXULUS-HD1(/M) only). This is done such that all three R, G, and B channels are sent to the SLM panel sequentially. With a standard video frame rate of 60 Hz, the actual frame rate at the SLM panel can be boosted to 180Hz.

EXULUS-HD1 & EXULUS-4K1 Spatial Light Modulators Chapter 5: Software Operation Frame Mode By default, the software is activated with Frame Mode initially after startup. This mode provides two frame operations, which depend on the Frame Rate Mode. Figure 21 Frame Mode in Standard Frame Rate For the standard frame rate, a gray level from 0 to 255 can be set by user and a related gray scale pattern will be created and shown in the preview window.

EXULUS-HD1 & EXULUS-4K1 Spatial Light Modulators Chapter 5: Software Operation File mode The file mode provides the upload of user defined pattern in common image format (PNG, jpeg, bmp). The bit depth of the uploaded image is converted automatically to 8-bit gray scale when standard frame rate mode is selected, shown as below.

The “Spatial Light Modulator” software consists of a fast CGH algorithm in this mode.

EXULUS-HD1 & EXULUS-4K1 Spatial Light Modulators Chapter 5: Software Operation Figure 26 Generated interference pattern of uploaded image Pattern mode The pattern mode consist of two commonly used patterns: Fresnel Lens Pattern and Diffraction Pattern. In Fresnel Lens mode, the wavelength and focal length can be defined by the user, 633 nm and 250 mm are the default values for these two parameters.
Page 32
EXULUS-HD1 & EXULUS-4K1 Spatial Light Modulators Chapter 5: Software Operation The diffraction pattern contains three parameters: wavelength, diffraction angle, and rotation angle. Default values are 633 nm, 0.1°, and 45°. Figure 28 Generation of Diffraction pattern Video mode The video mode supports user uploaded video to be played on the SLM panel. Supported input file formats include MP4, M4V, and MOV (in H.264 video codec).
EXULUS-HD1 & EXULUS-4K1 Spatial Light Modulators Chapter 5: Software Operation Note that for EXULUS-4K1(/M), video mode might not operate properly under Windows 7 environment. For proper video operation with EXULUS-4K1(/M), it is recommended to use Windows 10. 5.3.5. Sequence Setting The Sequence Setting area consists of a table list and four control buttons.

The resulting holographic projection is shown in Figure 33. Figure 31 Setup for CGH using the EXULUS-HD1 SLM. In this case, the focusing effect added to the CGH is set to a 100 000 mm focal length.

EXULUS-HD1 & EXULUS-4K1 Spatial Light Modulators Chapter 7: Application Note: Displaying CGH Patterns 7.2. Effects of Focusing and Tilt Due to the fill factor of the SLM panel, there is a small gap between the pixels. This in turn causes higher diffraction orders and a high-energy zero-order spot which is unaffected by the SLM, but inherently exists at the output.
