    Cultiplow EL162 Safety instructions 4.2.1 Introduction The machine must only be operated, maintained and repaired by competent persons who are familiar with machines' specifications and operation and aware of safety regulations for preventing accidents. The operator must imperatively respect safety instructions in this manual and in the warnings posted on the machine.

    Cultiplow EL162 4.2.4 Precautions to take before using the machine Do not wear loose clothing which could become caught up in moving parts. Wear the appropriate protective clothing for the work in hand (gloves, shoes, goggles, helmet, ear defenders, etc.).

    Cultiplow EL162 4.2.6 Precautions when driving on public roads  Dimensions Depending on the dimensions of the machine, contact the relevant authorities to ensure that it can be legally transported on public roads. If the machine is over the maximum legal size, follow the local regulations for special transportation of oversize equipment.
  • Page 16 Cultiplow EL162 For machines with hoppers or tanks: - If the total unit weight exceeds the tractor Gross Combined Weight Rating in accordance with the countrie's legislation, empty the hopper to travel on public roads. - In any case, we recommend to travel on public roads with empty hoppers and tanks.

To do: - If the front axle load (t1) is below 20% of the tractor tare (T), add ballast weights (M1) to exceed the minimum load on the front axle.

    Cultiplow EL162 4.2.9 Hydraulic circuit Caution ! The hydraulic circuit is under high pressure. Maximum pressure at work: 200 bar (2901 psi). Before connecting hoses to the tractor hydraulics, ensure that tractor and machine circuits are not under pressure. Before disconnecting a hose, depressurize the hydraulic circuit.

    Cultiplow EL162 4.2.10 PTO shaft Use only PTO shafts supplied with the machine or recommended by the machine manufacturer. The protective shield of the tractor PTO stub, the PTO shaft guards and the protective shield of the machine input shaft must always be in place and in good condition.
  • Page 21 Cultiplow EL162 Do not install any adapter device that results in a portion of the tractor PTO stub, the rotating PTO shaft, or the adapter to be unguarded. The tractor master shield shall overlap the end of the splined shaft and the added adaptor device as outlined in the table.

    The machines can be factory fitted with one of the following rollers:  Crumbler roller Models EL162 - 250, EL162 - 300 The Crumbler roller is adapted to dry or slightly wet soils. The roller is fitted with removable bars for reducing risks of clogging.

    Cultiplow EL162 6.1.3 Preparing the machine  Positioning of lower coupling yokes The lower coupling yokes can be placed in 2 different positions: Set back position (a): Allows to bring the machine's centre of gravity closer to the tractor when the power harrow is used in combination with an additional machine.

    Cultiplow EL162 6.1.4 Coupling the machine The lower yokes are set in fixed position. - Remove the lower hitch pins. - Lower the tractor three-point linkage. - Position ball joints of tractor lower links in line with machine lower yokes.

    Cultiplow EL162 6.1.5 Primary PTO shaft Before using the machine for the first time: - Grease the transmission. - Check overlap of the u-joint drive shaft and adjust length if necessary to avoid any premature wear. The direction of rotation is shown on a decal.

    Cultiplow EL162 6.1.7 PTO output stub on gearbox The gearbox is factory fitted with a rear PTO output stub that rotates in the same direction and at the same speed as the tractor PTO. The rear PTO enables driving a complementary tool.

Adjusting the plates: - Loosen plate attachment nut. - Adjust plate to bring it closer to the roller. Check that roll and scraper do not contact by rotating the roller.

  • Page 69 Cultiplow EL162 With wheels The working depth is set by the wheel height: - Lift the machine slightly off the ground. - Unlock and remove lynch pin (1). - Remove pin (2). - Position wheel arm in hole corresponding to the required setting.
  • Page 70 Cultiplow EL162 With skids The working depth is set by the skid height: - Lift the machine slightly off the ground. - Loosen nut (1). - Remove nut (2), washers and screw. - Position skid in hole corresponding to the required adjustment.

    Cultiplow EL162 8.2.2 Crumbler roller adjustment The Crumbler roller consists of 8 welded tubes (1) and 8 removable rods (2). Depending on the working conditions, the rods (2) can be removed. With removable rods in place: (a) For use in dry conditions, gives fine crumbling and levelling as well as good packing.

    Cultiplow EL162 8.2.3 Rear hood adjustment  Rear hoods The rear hood adjustment is one of the factors governing the tilth degree. To obtain a coarser tilth, the hoods can be raised (a). To obtain a finer tilth, the hoods can be lowered (b).
  • Page 73 Cultiplow EL162  Hood extension The hood extension enables levelling the ground to ensure good machine stability. The hood extension can be adjusted in 6 different positions.  Adjustment - Unlock and remove lynch pin (1). - Remove pin (2).

    Cultiplow EL162 Machine use Before engaging the machine in the ground: - Check that nobody is within the machine pivoting area. - If there is someone, make sure the person moves away. - Pay particular attention if working on very uneven grounds.
  • Page 75 Cultiplow EL162 The clod size depends on the following parameters: • The rotor speed. • The forward speed. • The working depth. • The rear hood position. Example: large clods result from a low rotor speed and a high forward speed.

    Cultiplow EL162 8.3.1 Rear wheels The rear wheels can be positioned on the inside for working on field edges (a): - In this case, move rear wheel scraper (b): • Remove bolt (1) and nut (2). • Position rear wheel scraper towards the front (b).

    Cultiplow EL162 Front wheels The front wheels provide improved machine stability. The front wheels can be fitted in the following cases: • On machines fitted with a roller. • On machines fitted with a Cultirotor rotor and without roller. 9.2.1 Working depth adjustment The working depth is set by the wheel height: - Lift the machine slightly off the ground.

    Cultiplow EL162 Skids This equipment adjusts and controls machine working depth. Skids can be fitted: • On machines fitted with a roller. • On machines fitted with a Cultirotor rotor and without roller. 9.4.1 Uncoupling the machine - Lower parking stand to stabilize the machine.
