Chapter 8: BIOS Setup

Introduction

This manual discussed PHOENIX-AWARD™ Setup program built
into the ROM BIOS. The Setup program allows users to modify
the basic system configuration. This special information is then
stored in battery-backed RAM so that it retains the Setup
information when the power is turned off.
The PHOENIX-AWARD™ BIOS installed in your computer
system's ROM (Read Only Memory) is a custom version of an
industry standard BIOS. This means that it supports IntelTM
processors input/output system. The BIOS provides critical low-
level support for standard devices such as disk drives and serial
and parallel ports.
Adding important has customized the PHOENIX-AWARD™ BIOS
but nonstandard, features such as virus and password
protection as well as special support for detailed fine-tuning of
the chipset controlling the entire system.
About the defaults of BIOS on manual is just for reference,
please refer to the BIOS installed on board, for update
information.
The rest of this manual is intended to guide you through the
process of configuring your system using Setup.
