    STERIS to schedule preventive maintenance or obtain the necessary Maintenance Manual if preventive maintenance is done by the Customer. Repairs and adjustments to this equipment must be made only by STERIS or STERIS-trained service personnel. Repairs and adjustments performed by unqualified personnel or installation of unauthorized parts could cause personal injury, result in improper equipment performance, void the warranty or result in costly damage.
  • Page 13 1 — Safety Precautions WARNING PERSONAL INJURY HAZARD Always verify door bridge is down before entering and exiting washer/disinfector chamber. Always wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including gloves and faceshield, when cleaning or removing debris from bottom of chamber and from debris screen. Surfaces are very hot after a cycle is completed and residual water could splash on skin and in eyes.
  • Page 14 Lockout/Tagout building electrical disconnect switch to cut power to washer/disinfector for maintenance or repairs. Repairs and adjustments to this equipment must be made only by STERIS or STERIS-trained service personnel. Service personnel must disconnect all utilities to unit before servicing. No one should service unit unless all utilities have been properly locked out.

    4 — Component Identification 4.3 Chamber Doors The chamber is provided with a horizontally-sliding power door on the load and unload side to access chamber. Doors are automatically operated by pneumatic cylinders. Doors are made of double tempered glass to allow the operator to view the chamber interior while a cycle is in progress and remain safely cool to the touch at any time during a cycle.

Each traveler includes jets that are oriented upward, downward or horizontally to provide full coverage of all the items on the rack.

Electrical box contains the central processor Unit (CPU) and controls washer/disinfector operation. 4.12 Chemical Dispensing System Three chemical injection pumps are included with a standard washer/disinfector. Up to two additional chemical injection pumps are included when Instrument Wash and/or Third Reservoir option is present.

The system monitors and controls the washer/disinfector operations and functions and also monitors the current status of the washer/disinfector, including current chamber temperature and time remaining in phase.

    4 — Component Identification Printer Unload Side Control Panel 4.18 Bar Code Reader (Accessory) The bar code reader (accessory) is located next to washer/disinfector load door, under Emergency Stop pushbutton. Bar code reader is used to automatically identify and initiate the appropriate cycle by scanning a bar code tag attached on utensils, container or instruments rack.

    4 — Component Identification Touch Screen Load Side Control Panel Unload Side Control Panel 4.20 Operating Modes — Introduction The control system offers four operation modes: Ready, Cycle, Supervisor and Service. The Ready and Cycle modes are always available. The Supervisor and Service modes are password-protected. 4.21 Ready Mode The Ready mode is the default operating mode of the washer/disinfector.

    4 — Component Identification Pressing Standby/Restore on touch screen puts the washer/ disinfector in Standby mode for low energy consumption purpose. If a cycle is in progress when Standby/Restore is pressed, the washer/disinfector performs the Standby sequence and is put in Standby mode only after the cycle is completed. 4.23 Cycle Mode The Cycle mode is used when processing a rack or a surgical case cart.

    4 — Component Identification 4.25 Service Mode The Service mode allows a qualified service technician to access the Service mode menu to configure the washer/disinfector and to perform preventive maintenance, testing and troubleshooting. The Service mode is not accessible to the operator or the supervisor. Only a qualified service technician can access the Service mode.

Emergency Stop Cable 4.35 Emergency Safety Feature — Chamber Door Interlock Mechanism Chamber doors are equipped with a door interlock safety mechanism that prevents load side door from opening at the same time as the unload side door to avoid cross-contamination. When a cycle is in progress, the door interlock mechanism prevents either door from being opened without aborting the cycle.

Always follow instrument manufacturer recommendations for cleaning instructions. Surgical case carts are designed for storage of instruments and supplies for surgical procedures. Washer/disinfector can process up to two surgical case carts per CART STD, CART LOW ECO or QUICK cycle.
