    Paper tray Exit tray Comes on when… • You press the power button to turn the printer on. • You connect the power supply. The color print cartridge is low on ink. The black print cartridge is low on ink.

    Connect the power supply. Note: Your power cable may be connected to the power supply already. Connect the USB cable. Note: Connect one end to the printer and the other end to a computer or an Internet appliance, such as a set-top box.
  • Page 6 Pull the paper tray completely out. Squeeze and slide both paper guides against the edges of the paper. Load plain paper in the paper tray print side down. Note: Load no more than 100 sheets of paper in the paper tray. Push the paper tray completely...
  • Page 7 Remove the print cartridge from its packaging. Open the cartridge door. Note: The cartridge carrier may move slightly, and then return to the loading position. Remove the sticker and transparent tape from the print cartridge. Warning: Do not touch the gold contact area on the cartridge.
  • Page 8 Insert the color print cartridge into the front carrier slot. SNAP Press the cartridge lever down until it snaps into place. Note: You may also purchase a black print cartridge. To install it, repeat steps 9 through 14 using the back carrier slot.
  • Page 9 Congratulations! You can now print using a set-top box. The first time you send a document to print, an alignment page prints. Your printer uses this page to align the print cartridges. You will need to resend your document to print.
  • Page 10 To print using a computer, continue with the following installation steps: Make sure your computer is on. Click Cancel on any screens similar to the one shown. Insert the CD. Wait for the driver to load. Click Install Now and follow the instructions on the screen to install the software.

    Load the paper Load paper into the paper tray print side down. Note: When printing smaller sizes, remove other paper from the tray and adjust the guides to fit the smaller paper. Squeeze and slide both paper guides against the edges of the paper. To print your document, see page 12.

    Turn the printer so the left side is facing you. Insert the paper against the right edge of the manual feed slot. The printer will detect the paper and pull it into the printer. This may take two to three seconds.

    Using a set-top box If your printer is attached to a set-top box, press the print button or select Print from your application. Note: The time it takes to start printing may vary depending on your application. Using a computer...

    You may need to resend your document to print. Aligning cartridges using a computer Load plain paper. Double-click the Lexmark Solution Center icon on your desktop to open the Lexmark Solution Center. Click Print Cartridges Cartridges. To align the cartridges automatically, select Automatic Alignment, and then click Next.

    This forces extra ink through the nozzles to unclog them. Using a set-top box Press the power button to turn the printer off. Press and hold the power button for about five seconds. The printed nozzle test page is similar to the one shown: Print your original document to see if print quality is satisfactory.

    Using a computer Double-click the Lexmark Solution Center icon on your desktop, and then select Print Cartridges A nozzle test page prints. The printed test page is similar to the one shown: Compare the diagonal lines above the printed bars to the diagonal lines below the printed bars.
  • Page 21: Removing The Power Supply

    Your printer warranty does not cover repair of failures or damage caused by a refilled cartridge. Lexmark does not recommend use of refilled cartridges. Refilling cartridges can affect print quality and cause damage to the printer. For best results, use Lexmark supplies.

    Troubleshooting If your printer has a problem, first make sure: • The power supply is plugged into your printer and an electrical outlet. • The USB cable is securely attached to your set-top box or your computer and to your printer.

    Press the power button to turn the printer on. Resend your document to print. Solid lights Paper out If the paper out light is on, your printer may be out of paper. Pull the paper tray completely out. Load the paper. Push the paper tray completely back in.
