6.3 Why would you want to use a 1D pattern?

1D patterns are very useful for a variety of reasons. First, a lot of time-encoded
structured light uses 1D patterns (such as grayscale encoding and phase-shift patterns).
Second, a 1D pattern can be completely represented by a 1 by x image (x can be a row
or a column), which means that all the information of the pattern can be obtained
without saving all the data of the pattern to the flash memory. It is because of this that
the DLPC347x controller can quickly project a very large number of different
patterns.

6.4 What is a pattern set?

A pattern set is a set of patterns that have similar properties. In particular, each pattern set can
be a 1-bit or 8-bit 1D pattern, which can be horizontal or vertical. Pattern sets are initially saved in
flash and then loaded into the controller's internal memory before being displayed. If only one
pattern set is used, then the pattern can be displayed at the fastest speed. If multiple pattern sets are
used, there is a load time overhead when switching between different pattern sets. Users can
change the projection order of the pattern set by modifying the pattern order table.

6.5 How many patterns can be stored in each pattern set?

The maximum number of patterns that each pattern set can store is limited by the
size of the DLPC347x internal memory. Limits for different patterns are provided in
the table below. Multiple pattern sets can be stored in external flash memory and can
be dynamically loaded into the DLPC347x controller. Therefore, the maximum
number of patterns that can be used in "Internal streaming" mode is determined by the
size of the external flash memory.
