HOW TO USE

CAUTION:
To prevent accidents, make sure to turn the sw itch off and disconnect the plug from the
receptacle w hen the drill bits and other various parts are installed or removed. The
pow er sw itch should also be turned off during a w ork break and after w ork.
1. Sw itch operation
When the trigger sw itch is depressed, the tool rotates. When the trigger is released, the
tool stops.
The rotational speed of the drill can be controlled by varying the am ount that the Trigger
sw itch is pulled. Speed is low w hen the trigger sw itch is pulled slightly and increases as
the trigger sw itch is pulled m ore.
Pulling the trigger and pushing the stopper, it keeps the sw itched-on condition w hich is
convenient for continuous running. When sw itching off, the stopper can be disconnected
by pulling the trigger again.
2. Electric brake (D13VF and D13VG)
When releasing the trigger of the sw itch, the brake w ill be applied for im m ediate
stopping.
CAUTION:
As there is some reaction w hen the brake functions, sure to hold the drill securely.
When the brake becomes ineffective, send the tool to a HITACHI AUTHORIZED SERVICE
CENTRE.
3. Drilling
When drilling, start the drill slow ly, and gradually increasing speed as you drill.
Alw ays apply pressure in a straight line w ith the bit. Use enough pressure to keep drilling,
but do not push hard enough to stall the m otor or deflect the bit.
To m inim ize stalling or breaking through the m aterial, reduce pressure on drill and ease
the bit through the last part of the hole.
If the drill stalls, release the trigger im m ediately, rem ove the bit from the w ork and start
again. Do not click the trigger on and off in an attem pt to start a stalled drill. This can
dam age the drill.
The larger the drill bit diam eter, the larger the reactive force on your arm .
Be careful not to lose control of the drill because of this reactive force.
To m aintain firm control, establish a good foothold, use side handle, hold the drill tightly
w ith both hand, and ensure that the drill is vertical to the m aterial being drilled.
