6. Remove breather hose (I) from port on air cleaner
base.
7. Remove two hex flange nuts (J) to release air cleaner
base from carburetor mounting studs.
8. Remove gasket (K) from two pins next to mounting
flange of air cleaner base. Discard gasket.
9. Remove duckbill air valve (L) from air inlet port on air
cleaner base.

Low Profile Air Cleaner (If Equipped)

1. See Figure 25. Move latch to unlock air cleaner cover
(A), and push in side tabs to release from air cleaner
base (B).
2. Remove duckbill air valve (C) from air inlet port on air
cleaner cover.
3. Remove air filter cartridge (D) from air cleaner base.
4. Remove foam seal (E) from air cleaner cover.
5. Inspect adhesive foam spacer (F) in air cleaner
cover. Remove and discard foam spacer if damage or
general deterioration is evident.

6. Remove two hex flange nuts (G) to release bracket
(H) from standoffs (I).
7. Remove two standoffs from carburetor studs.
8. Remove hex flange screw (J) to release trim panel
(K) from control bracket.
9. Remove hex flange nut (L) from inside carburetor
mounting stud. Remove trim panel.
10. Remove bottom support bracket screw (M) from
crankcase to release air cleaner base (screw also
captures cylinder heat shield and blower housing).
11. If necessary, loosen screw with hex nut (N) on bottom
support bracket.
12. Remove screw (O) to release air cleaner base from
cylinder head (screw also captures cylinder heat
shield).
13. Remove two hex flange nuts (P) from carburetor
mounting studs. Remove air cleaner base.
14. Remove gasket (Q) from two pins next to mounting
flange of air cleaner base. Discard gasket.
