SECTION 5:
SETTING TO WORK – DRAIN AND SEWER CLEANING (Cont'd)
26.
Take care when feeding hose out that hose tension is maintained, hose speed
may require adjustment if play out is slower than the reel speed. (Speed control
dial is located on main control panel.)
IMPORTANT - 'Freewheel' may be used for hose play out if preferred, thus
allowing hose advancement by the jetting nozzle. If the "Freewheel" option is
preferred it is important to physically stop hose movement during switching to
either 'ON' or 'OFF' modes.
Failure to stop hose travel can result in damage to hose reel motor and/or
drive chain which will void warranty.
27.
To achieve the best cleaning results in heavily deposited drains it is best to allow
the hose to advance approximately 15-20 metres at a time then withdrawing
approximately half of the advance distance, this permits debris being removed
to be pulled back, helping nozzle advancement. In extremely heavily choked
lines this distance can be reduced in hose advancement to 10-15 metres. This
method requires full power control of hose and ' Freewheel' should not be
used, only use 'Hose out' and 'Hose In' functions.
28.
Periodically check water tank sight gauge to ensure the 'Extractor' is receiving
enough water supply from hydrant to maintain pump requirements.
29.
Always keep a watchful eye on the sewer hose to ensure tension is maintained
for operation in both 'IN' and 'OUT' modes ensuring hose does not form on
boom.
IMPORTANT: Always retain at least two rolling's of the sewer hose on the hose
reel drum to avoid undue load on hose end fitting.
30.
Keep an eye out for large items of debris coming back during cleaning
operations, the vacuum fluidizing tube may require raising to accommodate
vacuum pick up, this can be done by using 'Boom Up' function.
31.
If hose stops advancing you may have come across a heavy obstruction or a
drop pipe. Try withdrawing the sewer hose approximately one metre and then
advance hose again. Occasionally this may need several forward and reverse
modes to clear obstruction. In some instances, speciality nozzles may be
required to clear an obstruction i.e. Rootcutter, alternatively give yourself 1
metre of slack hose, pull it back by hand and release.
32.
When sewer hose is played out or when section of pipe to be cleaned has been
reached hose withdrawal procedure may proceed.
33.
It is important to note that most of the clearing operation is performed
upon hose withdrawal to pull back debris.
