Problem
Poor finish or irregular spray
pattern
Pump is noisy when pumping
Erratic accelerated speed
Motor is powered but nothing
comes out of the hose
Material is too thick to push
through the hose without pack-
ing out
Electric motor will not start or
stops during operation
VFD overload fault
Water Pump will not run
3A4349B
Cause
Inadequate air assist air pres-
sure.
Dirty, worn, or damaged spray
applicator.
Pumping water without dish soap
or a slick agent.
Pump is running with no material
or fluid in the hopper.
Material supply exhausted.
Pump pressure is too high, stator
is too tight.
Pump is packed out with dry or
cured material.
Hose is packed out with dry or
cured material.
Hose is too restrictive.
Loose connections.
Motor overload relay trips.
The VFD detects a motor over-
load due to motor slowing down
under a high current condition.
Extended period of time without
use.
Not properly winterized.
Solution
Adjust the air assist air pressure output on
the applicator.
Service the spray applicator (see applicator
manual).
Add dish soap or a slicking agent to the water
Add material to hopper or shut off pump.
Refill the hopper and prime pump with mate-
rial.
Loosen stator to achieve suitable pumping
pressure.
Disassemble and clean the pump.
Clean or replace the material hose.
Thin and mix material thoroughly to a lower
viscosity if material supplier allows.
Use a pump system priming fluid (dish soap
or slicking agent) to wet out the system.
Reduce length and/or increase diameter of
hose.
Check connections in electrical enclosure.
Check for correct voltage supply at the dis-
connect and VFD terminals L1, L2, L3.
Turn power disconnect switch to OFF and
wait one minute for VFD to reset. Allow the
motor to cool if conditions occur frequently.
See "VFD overload fault," below, for possible
causes.
Reduce motor load.
Lower pressure.
Reduce length and/or increase diameter of
hose.
See Startup After Extended Storage, page
18.
If any water pump system components are
damaged, replace as necessary or see
Startup After Extended Storage, page 18.
