The Liberty Pumps 404 should be vented using an unrestricted vent pipe with a diameter of at least 1-¼ inches. The vent pipe should be connected directly to a building or house vent. A union should be installed in the vent pipe to allow for easy removal if needed. One-way quick-vents or air admittance valves should not be used, as they do not guarantee proper fixture performance. If the top port is used for venting, a 1/8-inch hole should be drilled through both the unit and vent pipe to prevent air pockets that could interfere with alarm float activation.
