Personnel installing, programming, operating or maintaining this device must have read
and understood these instructions.
The described product has been developed as a part of a safety system.
The system includes sensors, evaluation units, control units and a concept for safe
switch-off. The manufacturer is in charge to ensure the correct functionality of the entire
system. The manufacturer is in charge to check and to prove the effectiveness of the
safety concept.
Any modification at the safety parameters or the safety concept itself requires to re-
prove the effectiveness of the safety concept.
Wieland Electric cannot guarantee properties of systems that not have been established
in their own responsibility. Wieland Electric also does not accept liability for any
recommendations derived from the following description. Claims that go beyond the
rights cited in the warranty are excluded.

Safety regulations

Disconnect the device/system from the power supply before starting work. If installation or
system errors occur, mains voltage may be present at the control circuit in the case of non-
electrically isolated devices.
When installing the equipment, please observe the electrotechnical and professional trade
association safety regulations.
Opening the case or manipulating the equipment in any other way will render any
warranties null and void.
In the case of improper use or any use other than for the intended purpose, the device
must no longer be used and any warranty claims shall be void. Exposure to the following
(amongst other things) is not permitted: significant mechanical strain on the device (e.g. if
the device is dropped); voltages, currents, temperatures, humidity levels outside the
specifications.
If the safety conditions are not observed or if the device is used improperly, Wieland
Electric GmbH accepts no liability for the resulting damage to persons or objects.
Always check all safety functions in accordance with the applicable regulations during
initial commissioning of your machine/system, and observe the specified inspection cycles
for safety devices.
During transport, storage and operation, observe the safety conditions in accordance with
EN 60068-2-1, 2-2 and 2-6.
The unit should be mounted in a cabinet otherwise dampness or dust could lead to
functional impairment. The device must be installed in a control cabinet.
Adequate fuse protection must be provided on all output contacts especially with
capacitive and inductive loads.
The unit must be installed following the specification of DIN EN 50274, VDE 0660-514
regarding the required distances.
During operation, parts of the electronic switchgear carry high voltage. During operation
the protective covers must not be removed from the electronic switchgear!
The device must always be replaced after the first malfunction! Dispose of the product
correctly at the end of its life cycle.Keep the operating instructions!

Proper use
Drives of machine tools without movement sensor systems can be monitored
with standstill monitoring SVM 4001K.
When the drives are set in motion or if faults are detected, the potential-free NO
output contacts of the standstill monitor assume the rest position.
The output contacts are potential-free NO contacts. They can be used to lock a
safety cover or for an emergency stop function.
The standstill monitoring SVM 4001K can be used in safety function circuit
according to VDE 0113 T1. It can be mounted at a 35mm DIN rail.
In dependence of the external circuit maximal category 4 / PL e can be arrived
according to EN ISO 13849-1 respectively SIL 3 according to EN 61508.
Only use the device in accordance with its intended purpose. Pay particular
attention to the information in the technical data.
The application-specific standards must be observed when installing and operating the
device.
The device must be installed in accordance with IEC 60364-4-44.
Take the following safety precautions before starting installation/assembly or
disassembly work:
1. Disconnect the device/system from the power supply before starting work.
2. Secure the machine/system to prevent it being switched back on.
3. Confirm that no voltage is present!
4. Earth the phases and short-circuit them briefly.
5. Cover and shield neighboring live parts.
6. The devices must be installed in a switch cabinet with a protection class of at least
IP54.
Limited contact protection.
− Protection class according to EN 60529: IP20.
− Finger-proof according to EN 50274.
The contact protection of the connected elements and the insulation of the supply lines
must be designed for the highest voltage applied to the device.
The safety function must be checked again if the devices have been operated outside the
specification for current, voltage or temperature limits. This is especially true if a fuse
has tripped.
According to the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, operation is only permitted with a
PELV/SELV power supply according to EN 60364-4-41.
Disposal
Unusable or irreparable devices must always be disposed of in accordance with the relevant
country-specific disposal regulations that apply (e.g. European waste code 16 02 04).

1 Function description

The input terminals L1, L2 and L3 have to be always directly connected to the power supply
terminals of the monitored drive.
No switching contacts are allowed between L1, L2, L3 and the terminals of the drive.
There is a 4 kV electrical isolation between L1, l2, L3 and all other terminals of SVM 4001K.
The output contacts on terminals 13-14 /and 23-24 are safe NO contacts with stop
category 0 in accordance with EN 60204-1. The contacts can be used in a 2-channel parallel
circuit or in a fail-safe serial circuit.
2 Mounting and removal
Mounting
1. Attach the device to the DIN rail.
2. Snap the device onto the DIN rail by
applying slight pressure in the direction of
the arrow.
SVM 4001K-A / 4001K-C
WARNI NG
Removal
3. Press the device down in the direction of
the arrow.
4. While it is pressed down, detach the
device from the latching (in the direction
indicated by the arrow) and re-move it
