Removing the Appliance Control Unit (ACU)

WARNING
Electrical Shock Hazard
Disconnect power before servicing.
Replace all parts and panels before operating.
Failure to do so can result in death or
electrical shock.
To Remove the Appliance Control Unit (ACU)
The Appliance Control Unit (ACU) is located at the bottom-
right corner of the washer.
1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Turn off water supply to washer.
3. Disconnect cold inlet water hose and remove the drain
hose from the standpipe or laundry tub.
4. Using a 7 mm nut driver, remove hex-head screw used to
secure the ACU to the back panel (See Figure 1).

5. Gently lay the washer on its right side (place a 2 x 4 or
similar sized object on the floor prior to laying the washer
on its side to elevate the washer slightly).

6. Disconnect the drain hose from the ACU hose clip.

7. Lift up on the plastic release lever attached to the ACU.
At the same time, slide the ACU to the right (toward the
suspension dampers), freeing the ACU tabs from the slots
in the washer cabinet. See Figure 3.

8. With the ACU detached, the connector covers can now be
opened to access or unplug the connectors.
