Compact system
A contactor is installed in the CS351 compact system. In case of operation, this contactor disconnects
the EC motor from the servo amplifier and thus prevents any danger to the operating personnel.
Detailed information on the XDN1 motor-breaker interface and on the motor-breaker circuitry with
ErgoSpin can be found in the "CS351" operating instructions.
Emergency-OFF interfaces with the CS351 Compact System
The CS351 compact system is equipped with an interface (XDN1, see figure 4–19) for the motor-breaker
with two independent circuits for the motor-breaker.

NOTICE
Danger of short circuit
Improper use of the connection options at terminal XDN1 will cause a short circuit.

If this type of system is used, potential equalization must be ensured on site. This means, an additional
slide with current collector may need to be installed for grounding of the busbar system at the system
on site.
If interferences are to be expected via the workpiece, additional means for discharge of high-
frequency currents have to be provided. This may include braid strands or large grounding surfaces.
These have to be positioned as close (electrically) as possible at the workpiece. In this case,
discharge via the mains connection alone is not sufficient!
For distribution of the loads in the busbar, three-phase symmetrical loading has to be ensured. This
way, the effective impedance can be clearly reduced in contrast to single-phase loading.

Section of CS351 with XDN1 interface
The maximum cable length for the motor-breaker circuit is 30 m.
Always design the motor breaker circuits separately and with potential-free contacts. Do not confuse
the motor breaker circuits under any circumstances.
Both motor breaker interfaces have to be returned. If only one is used, the other one must be provided
with a wire jumper.
When using only one motor-breaker connection option, we recommend executing the motor-breaker
via the motor-breaker circuit NH1.
Please observe the requirements for safe isolation of circuits (EN50178) when using the
connection options at terminal XDN1.
Reason: The voltage circuits on terminal XDN1 are safely isolated from the mains circuit (safe
isolation in accordance with EN50178).
