9.5.3 Cautions for use

(1) Stir the chemical sufficiently before pouring it into the container for mixture.
(2) Raise the concentration of the chemical a little bit higher when a large of deposits are expected.
(3) In order to avoid air-pocket in the tube side and water boxes to be cleaned, be sure to plan so
that gas generated during cleaning may be thoroughly vented out.

9.6 Solution Control

The inhibitor is added in lithium bromide solution in order to prevent metal corrosion. It consumes
gradually as time goes by. If it is left as it is, rust will yield in the unit, which may cause drop of
capacity and other troubles.
In order to prevent such troubles it is necessary to know the condition of lithium solution and take a
proper measure to prevent corrosion. That is, it is necessary to sample the lithium bromide solution for
analysis and to regulate the inhibitor based on the analysis of the solution before off-cooling season
every year. Refer to item-3 Adjustment Procedure of Inhibitor for Lithium Bromide Solution in Appendix
at the end of this manual.

9.7 Combustion Control

Combustion is a kind of oxidizing reaction. The heat reaction which can be utilized efficiently as heat
is generally called combustion. Oxygen or air is needed for combustion, which requires oxidizing
reaction, first. Generally, air volume required for combustion (theoretical air volume) is 1m
kcal regardless of kind of fuel. The biggest problem for the burner is combustion under insufficient
air. The continuous imperfect combustion under insufficient air may cause loss of fuel and produce
of air-pollution materials such as carbon monoxide. It may also cause accumulation of imperfect
combustion gas in the smoke duct, by which gas explosion may threaten to take place in the smoke
duct.
Therefore, more amount of air volume than the theoretical air volume must always be needed to be
supplied to the burner while combustion. Actually, richer air volume by 20 ~ 40% than the theoretical
air volume should be supplied to the burner. This is called actual air volume and the value obtained
from the division of the actual air volume by the theoretical air volume is called air ratio. Combustion
control means keeping air ratio to be proper value (approx. 1.2 ~ 14) constantly. Hyundai Climate
Control Co., Ltd. Gas/oil Direct-fired Absorption chiller-heater's burner is designed to keep the air
ratio to be constant for stable combustion. The air ratio is adjusted by checking of O
in exhausted combustion gas. Such adjustment must be performed by a skilled service engineer for
safety. In daily maintenance check if combustion condition is normal, the screws are not loose, the
motion of the damper motor is smooth and so on. Table 9.4 shows inspection items for combustion
and inspection procedures.
