Preparation for Operation

The preparation works stated in this chapter must be done by service engineers of
Hyundai Climate Control Co., Ltd. or its registered service agent.
4.1 Evacuation (Vacuum confirmation test)

(1) Evacuation

After the installation of the absorption chiller-heater, nitrogen gas charged and pressurized in the
chiller-heater shall be discharged from the vessel and then evacuation is performed.
(2) Vacuum confirmation test
The test shall be performed as per the procedures shown in the installation and assembling
manual to be provided separately.
4.2 Charge of Solution, Refrigerant and Alcohol
Charge LiBr solution, refrigerant and alcohol along the following procedure with
the greatest care so as not to let air enter the chiller-heater. The volume to be charged shall be the
volume prescribed for each model.
(2) Solution charge
Charge solution from the service valve provided at the outlet of concentrated solution in the
low temperature heat exchanger.
1) Provide a clean vessel (polyethylene bucket is recommendable) with a capacity of about
100liter and fill it with solution.
2) Connect the solution service valve with the vessel with a vacuum vinyl hose and fill the
hose with solution to purge out air.
3) Insert the end of the vinyl hose into the bottom of the vessel and fix it. Then open the
service valve, and the solution flows into the chiller-heater by the pressure difference
between atmospheric pressure and internal pressure of the chiller-heater. As the solution
level of the vessel goes down and make up solution. Keep charging until the charging
volume reaches the amount prescribed for each model.
4) Alcohol charge
Charge 1/2 amount of the prescribed charging volume at the same time of solution
charging.
(2) Refrigerant charge
Charge refrigerant (pure water) from the service valve provided on the discharge pipe of the
refrigerant pump.
1) Fill the vessel with refrigerant.
2) Connect the service valve with the refrigerant vessel with a vinyl hose and refrigerant to
purge out air.
3) Insert the vinyl hose into the bottom of the vessel and fix it. Then open the service valve,
and refrigerant flows into the chiller-heater (evaporator).
Keep charging refrigerant until the charging volume reaches the volume prescribed for
each model in the same way as described in above (1) Solution charge.
4) Alcohol charge
Charge 1/2 amount of the prescribed charging volume at the same time of refrigerant
charging.
