WARNING
Dewatering activities will have an impact on the surrounding area in which water
is being extracted from the ground.
Settling of the ground occurs during groundwater extraction. This can result in
grains of sand moving closer together, which will have an impact on the ground.
This can cause cracks in buildings and pipes. It can also result in rotting of wooden
foundation piles if the groundwater is kept at a low level for an extended period of
time.
Before starting a dewatering system, make sure a sound dewatering plan has been
prepared and that the impact on the surrounding area is clear.
