ReChargX™ RX211 Instructions
For use in the Canon 116 series toner cartridges
The Canon 116 Series toner cartridges are most
frequently found in the Canon imageCLASS
MF8050Cn, MF 8030Cn, i-SENSYS LBP-5050, LBP
5050n and all other machines using the same
"underlying" engine.
These toner cartridges are quite easy to refill
using our ReChargX™ RX211 Premium Print
Toner Refill Kits.
Within these ReChargX™ RX211 Premium Print
Toner Refill Kit instructions we will be adding new
toner, emptying the waste hopper and replacing
the toner cartridge reset chip.
Note: We will be working with the Canon 116
Black cartridge throughout the instructions.
These instructions apply to all four cartridges
within this series (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow).
Step 1: Orient the Toner Cartridge
Orient the cartridge on your work surface so the
cartridge handle is toward your chest and the
reset chip is on the left side, as shown by the
red circle in figure 1.
Step 2: Cover the Imaging Drum
Rotate the cartridge on your work surface so
the toner cartridge drum is toward the ceiling;
tape a piece of paper along the front edge of the
cartridge (figure 2a).
Fold the paper over the imaging drum and
tape the other side to the edge of the toner
cartridge (figures 2b and 2c).

Figure 7: Wait for the hole-making tool to heat up Since the tool is quite hot, excessive force is unnecessary (figure 8). Note: Once the copper tip of the hole-making tool penetrates the top of the toner cartridge, immediately withdraw the tool, unplug it from the wall and proceed to step 9 before the tool is allowed to cool off. • Page 4 Step 10: Empty the Toner Hopper Now, we will remove the residual toner from the toner cartridge. Critical: Your print quality will suffer significantly if the remaining toner is not first removed. This step is only necessary on the first refill of each cartridge. Holding the cartridge inside the plastic zip-top bag, included in your ReChargX™ RX211 Refill Kit, carefully pour out all remaining toner. If the toner stops flowing, give the cartridge a light tap Figure 10: Empty the Toner Hopper to start the flow again (figure 10). Shaking the toner cartridge up-and-down is not recommend as it normally creates an unnecessary toner mess. If the toner stops flowing, lift the end of the cartridge up and then re-lower the hole within the bag. Gently tapping along the side of the cartridge helps to keep the toner flowing.
  • Page 5 Step 11: Fill the Toner Hopper with ReChargX™ RX211 Premium Print Toner In this step we will fill the toner hopper with the ReChargX™ RX211 Premium Print toner. To ensure the toner flows freely from the bottle during filling, make certain the cap is screwed tightly on the bottle, then gently rock/shake the bottle to free up the toner that may have settled during shipping. Figure 11: Fill the Canon 116 cartridge with the Next, remove the original cap from the bottle and ReChargX™ RX211 Toner Refill Kit replace it with the plastic dispenser spout from the ReChargX™ RX211 Toner Refill Kit. To make the adding of the toner to the toner hopper as easy and dust-free as possible, tilt the end of the cartridge with the hole in it up at a 45 degree angle and slowly angle the dispenser spout on the bottle of toner to meet up with the hole (figure 11).

Stretching the orange toner grabber cloth activates the toner retaining substance that is embedded within the cloth. Figure 12: Clean the area around the hopper hole You will be using this cloth to clean the outside of the toner hopper hole to ensure the ReChargX™ leak-proof seal will be applied securely to the car- tridge (figure 12).
