    Installation Prerequisites Before upgrading your Model C200/C240 to a Model C360, your current system must be running HP-UX 10.20 or greater with Additional Core Enhancements (ACE) 9806 for Workstations (June 1998) and IPR 9812. For optimal performance, use HP-UX compilers from August 1998 or later.
  • Page 5 C240 to a C360. 1 Prepare your workstation • Verify that you have the correct version of HP-UX. • Determine and WRITE DOWN the LAN ID of your system. You may need to re-enter it in the new system board.

    Before starting the upgrade, use the following procedure to prepare the workstation: 1 The workstation must be running HP-UX 10.20 or later with Additional Core En- hancements (ACE) 9806 and IPR 9812 to accommodate the C360 upgrade. Use the command uname -r to determine the revision of your operating system. It should report B.10.20.
  • Page 7 LAN ID. 3 Log out of your system and enter a command line session as follows: HP VUE: At the login window, select Options, then select No Windows. HP CDE: At the login window, select Option, then select 4 Power off your workstation by pressing the power button on the front panel.
  • Page 8 Preparing Your Workstation 9 Remove the floor stand from the system unit, as shown in Figure 1. Figure 1 Removing the Floor Stand 10 Lay the system unit on a flat surface, such as a table top. 11 Attach a static-grounding wrist strap to bare metal on the back of the system unit.
  • Page 9 Preparing Your Workstation CAUTION: The internal components of your workstation are susceptible to mechanical and electrostatic shock. To prevent such damage from occurring, observe the following precautions during the installation procedure: Stand on a static-free mat (if available). Wear a static-grounding wrist strap to ensure that any accumulated electrostatic charge discharges from your body to ground.

    Removing the Main Tray Assembly Removing the Main Tray Assembly Once you have prepared the workstation, you need to remove the main tray from the system unit, as described in the following procedure: CAUTION: Do NOT attempt to remove the main tray assembly when the workstation is in a vertical orientation.
  • Page 11 Removing the C200/C240 CPU Board Perform the following steps to remove the C200/C240 CPU board from the sys- tem unit: 1 Remove the Main Tray Assembly. 2 Remove the two CPU board retaining screws, as shown in Figure 3. 3 Pull the two ejector handles at the same time, as shown in Figure 3.     Transfer Memory Modules From the Old CPU Board to the New CPU Board 3 To remove a memory module, push the ejector tabs on each side of the module. Lift the memory module up and out of the connector. Figure 6 shows how to re- move a memory module.

    4 To install a memory module, close the ejector tabs on each side of the memory connector and line the memory module up with the guides, as shown in Figure 7. Make sure that the notched end of the memory module is toward the white ejector tab as shown in Figure 7.

Power saving monitors may switch to their power saving mode during this time This concludes the hardware upgrade. 10 Pack the old CPU board back in the antistatic bag and place it in the upgrade kit box and use the documentation provided to return the old parts to Hewlett-Pack- ard for credit.
