Power Saving and Ergonometry
Power-On from Space-Bar
The power-on from the space-bar function is enabled, provided that:
• The computer is connected to a Power-On keyboard (recognizable by the
Power-On icon on the space bar).
• The computer is running a Windows operating system.
• The function has not been disabled by setting SW-8 to
board switches.
• The function has not been disabled in the "Power" menu of the Setup pro-
gram.
Power Button Override
Under certain circumstances, in order to prevent accidental data or
information loss, the PC Workstation cannot be turned off (i.e. after pressing
the power button, the power indication light is red and the fans are still
running):
• If the PC Workstation is locked, "power-off" is not allowed. First, the
password to unlock the PC Workstation must be entered in order to turn
it off.
• If the PC Workstation is in suspend/sleep mode, "power-off" is disabled to
prevent a loss of information/data.
To override this "power button disable" feature, press the Power On/Off
button for five seconds, and the system will be automatically turned off.
Note that this does not shut down the operating system properly and may
result in loss of information or data.
Package Intrusion Feature
Each time the cover is removed from the PC Workstation, a detector placed
near the Power On/Off button will report the fact to the HP TopTOOLS
utility.
