11.6.3. Preshift from the master

Preshift from master is a shift that adds possibility of adding a prefix to the number, even before
the standard number calculation procedure. This parameter is particularly useful in complex
systems with common satellites (many blocks with common input, e.g. gateway).
In each block of flats in the housing estate, the numbering of flats may be repeated (e.g. one block
includes flats 1-20 and the other 1-50). In such a situation, overlapping numbers will not be
correctly handled in case of a satellite on the gate (the installer must remember to ensure that
the supported numbers in PBXes are unrepeatable). For this purpose the parameter was created
– setting the preshift, for common satellites, in blocks: 100 in the first and 200 in the second, you
can easily differentiate the numbers from the gate point of view. In this case the number 202 will
call premises 2 in block 2 and the number 116 will call premises 16 in block 1.
The easiest way to use this parameter is to use it as a prefix (setting the numbers of type 100, 200,
1000, 3000, etc.). Due to the fact that preshift is added to the selected number before the rest of
conversion, it is enough to configure the numbering separately for each block (e.g. ranges of
logical, physical and special redirections in A2 program or residents list) and then set the preshift
to master in the local parameter of a common keyboard.
For illustration – if a special number 200 has been set in block 1 (prefix 1000), which is outside the
range of physical numbers, then after using the prefix from the master this number can be dialed
from the common keyboard as 1200. If the preshift would not be used, another redirection in A2
program – from 1200 to the required physical number should be entered). In other words: the
master preshift is deducted from the number and the result obtained is treated by PBX as a
number entered from its local keyboard.
Preshift from master also applies to entries on the residents list, including premises with a letter
suffix. For example, if the satellite has 1100d on its list and preshift 1000 have been set in the PBX,
then after dialing 1100d from KDC3915, the PBX will consider the number 100d.
