AIR CLEANER SERVICE

Foam Air Filter Cleaning

A dirty foam air filter will restrict air flow to the carburetor, reducing engine
performance. If you operate the generator in very dusty areas, clean the foam
air filter more frequently than specified in the Maintenance Schedule (see page
53).
1. Clean the air filter in warm soapy water, rinse, and allow to dry thoroughly, or
clean in nonflammable solvent and allow to dry.
2. Dip the air filter in clean engine oil, and then squeeze out all excess oil. The
engine will smoke when started if too much oil is left in the air filter.

3. Remove the rubber air guide from the air cleaner case.
Clean the rubber air guide and the air cleaner case with a moist rag, then
reinstall the rubber air guide.
