Installation and Maintenance
Your Desiccator should be inspected thoroughly prior to usage. Any damage that may have occurred in transit should be
reported immediately. The Desiccator should be located adjacent to a vacuum source, should it be required. Adequate
counter space is required to facilitate the opening and closing of the door.
1. Place cabinet on the supplied support stand. Holes are provided in the cabinet to position the rack correctly.
2. Attach 1/4" ID vacuum hose to the fitting on the valve if vacuum is required for your specific application.
3. The cabinet may be used with or without vacuum grease on the door gasket surface. If a lower vacuum is
anticipated over a long period of time, a light coating of grease is recommended.
4. Load the stainless steel pan that has been provided with a commercially available desiccant material.
5. Apply or release vacuum to the cabinet by opening or closing the vacuum valve.
The fiberglass-molded cabinet can be washed with detergent and warm water. DO NOT use harsh detergents or scouring
powders on the fiberglass surfaces. The window is tempered safety glass and care should be taken to avoid scratching
and/or damaging this surface.
1. The door gasket should be kept clean to assure a good seal. If vacuum grease is used on the gasket, it should
be removed occasionally with a soft dry cloth and reapplied.
2. The Desiccator cabinet is shipped completely assembled. Should the door need adjustment, the following
procedure should be followed:
a. With door closed and latched, loosen screws holding door hinges and latches to the cabinet body.
b. If a vacuum source is available, apply any level of vacuum to cabinet. The vacuum will hold the door in
place and compress the gasket.
c. If vacuum source is not available, adjust the door such that the face of the glass compresses the gasket
slightly and retighten screws.
