5.8.4
Hydraulic connections
Make sure that the hoses to the pump supply
and return line are installed correctly.
CAUTION
The pumps have a by-pass that connects the return line piping
with that of the suction line (Fig. 19). They are installed on the
burner with the by-pass closed by screw 7)(Fig. 19).
It is therefore necessary to connect both hoses to the pump. The
pump will break down immediately if it is run with the return pipe-
line closed and the by-pass screw engaged.
Remove the plugs from the suction and return line fittings of
the pump.
Insert the flexible hoses fittings with the gaskets supplied
and fix them.
When installing, make sure that the hoses are not excessively
taut or twisted.
Pass the hoses through the holes in the left plate 5)(Fig. 20),
removing the thin diaphragm closing the two holes, or else
as indicated below: unscrew the screws 1), now divide the
insert piece into its two parts 2) and 3) and remove the thin
diaphragm blocking the two passages 4).
Install the hoses where they cannot be stepped on or touch
hot surfaces of the boiler.
Then connect the other end of the hoses to the nipples sup-
plied using two wrenches: one to hold the nipple steady and
the other to screw the fitting onto the hose.
Take care that the hoses are not stretched or
twisted during installation.
