Overheating when conducting noise analysis or Rub Tests. CAUTION The 2205 utilizes a Push – Pull amplifier design for Side Scan transmission. You can NOT adjust the transmit level in the same manner as a linear amp (utilized on the 2200 series). DO NOT attempt to adjust the transmit power with JStar/Discover/Third Party Software to anything other than 100% (ON) or 0% (OFF).
4.3A at 36Vdc. The average worst case operational current of the system is 3.05A at 36Vdc. Cable losses between the user’s power source and the EdgeTech 2205 electronics must be accounted for to ensure that 36-60Vdc is present at the J1 bulkhead during the peak demands at initial turn-on and when transmitting.
The typical 2300 tri-frequency pressure housing assembly is depicted in drawing 0021987. While the bottle is built for the 2300 system, the interior electronics are standard 2205. Figure 4-1 depicts the internal system components found in the pressure housing. There are no user serviceable components within the pressure housing.
2205 System Technical and User’s Guide 5. Connector/Internal Cable Configuration A typical electronics block diagram is provided in drawing 0021984 where it identifies the internal cabling and how it relates to the external connectors. The end cap configuration is depicted in Figure 5-1 and in drawing 0021985.
SONAR interface commands. Alternatively, without the Digital I/O interface, the 2205 can be used to generate Triggers A & C to pass to the 2300 multiplexer. These triggers are not synchronized to the FSK trigger and are hosted with the 2205 as the Trigger Master.
The triggers can sink or source a TTL/CMOS compatible signal. It is recommended that the user consult EdgeTech Customer Service if a different configuration is required so that this value may be updated and compared against the hardware configuration to insure there are no incompatibilities.
2205 System Technical and User’s Guide accuracy unless a Network Time Server is utilized. Configuration of the 1pps sync is covered under the Trigger subsection 5.7. 6.2 Sonar.ini Setting The following is a typical SONAR configuration file. Different Tri-Frequency combinations will reference different pulse folders or calibration files, but their naming format will be consistent with the entries shown below.

Factory software configuration and is based on the software and hardware interface requirements. EdgeTech uses the Machine ID that relates to the native Network Port on the CPU carrier board. If a USB based network port is introduced by the user, its Machine ID will not correlate to the Factory derived password.

CPU/Network Port, the SONAR system will continue to function when used with any of EdgeTech’s software products but features, such as external control by a party software package, will no longer function. The same is true if a CPU is replaced, with no changes to the SATADOM/USB boot device, as the password-based MAC address will not match the new CPU/Network Port.
2205 System Technical and User’s Guide Figure 6-2. SONAR Status Window Access Under the Config Item “Summary” (figure 6-3), the user should scroll through the Status window to confirm that all required Options are Installed/Activated. “Public Net” is required for any 3 Party control of SONAR.
Folders. Expand DATA (F:) and you should see a folder called EdgeTech Backup. Enter this folder and copy the EdgeTech Folder. 9. Return to Folders select SONAR (D:), delete the current EdgeTech folder. Right click on screen and paste the newly copied EdgeTech folder from DATA (F:).

A 2300 Starmux IV Power and Telemetry rackmount hardware suite is provided as the communications and power interface to the 2300 Subsea Multiplexer and 2205 SONAR system. A network interface is provided to go between the Starmux IV and a Topside PC to control the data acquisition and display the resulting data.
Bathymetric systems share the same pulses. A ‘Q’ follows the SS frequency identifier to indicate that the pulse has been quantized to a series of digital pulses to improve the 2205 amplifier’s push-pull amplifier drive. A simultaneous Side Scan and Sub-Bottom system generates acoustic transmissions such that all pings end at the same time …...

2205 System Technical and User’s Guide Transducer Characteristics 10.1 Side Scan Transducer Capacitance Capacitance measurements were made using a LCR meter at 1kHz (table 10-1). Similar measurements can be made with a capacitance measurement capable DVM. Note that these measurements should be used as a guide and not an absolute as to a transducer’s status.
2205 System Technical and User’s Guide 10.3 Side Scan Transducer Impedance The measurement of a transducer’s impedance is affected by several external factors such as radiation loading (measurement performed in air or water), how the transducer is positioned (relative to other objects) and type of measurement device used.
It is not possible to calculate the actual proper spacing without knowledge of the installation platform or user requirements. Spacing between the side scan arrays is left to customer discretion but should be kept to a minimum. EdgeTech can provide guidance as needed.
Doing so has the potential to cause the boot to tear and/or damage the transducer. Periodic Maintenance Maintenance on the 2205 Series Systems should be performed after each deployment or following the vehicle’s recovery cycle. 12.1 Inspecting and Cleaning the Bottle and Transducers after Use After retrieving the vehicle from the water, use a hose to wash the bottle and transducers with clean, fresh water.
