SECTION 9 - SUPPLEMENTS
SUPPLEM E NT 4 - FAA APPROVED
As long as the remote switch/ann u nciator is in the AUTO position
and the EL T master function selector switch remains in the AUTO
position, the EL T automatically activates when the unit senses
longitudinal inertia forces as required in TSO-C9 1 A.
Following a l ig htning strike, or an exceptionally hard landing, the
EL T may activate although no emergency exists.
switch/annunciator illuminates, the EL T has inadvertently activated
itself. Another way to check is to select 1 21 .5 MHz on the radio
transceiver and listen for an emergency tone transmission.

The E LT m ust be serviced in accordance with FAR Part 9 1 .207.
INSPECTIONrrEST
1 . The emergency locator transmitter should be tested every 1 00
hours.
Test should only be conducted within the first 5
m i nutes of each hour.
2. Discon nect antenna cable from EL T.
3. Turn airplane battery switch and avionics power switches ON.
4. Turn airplane transceiver ON and set frequency to 1 2 1 .5 M Hz.
5. Place remote switch/ann unciator in the ON position.

tone transmis sions, then immediat ely repositio n the remote
switch/a nn unciator to the RESET position and release to the
AUTO position.
6. Place the E L T master function selector switch in the ON
position. Verify that the transmit ter ann unciator light on the
E L T and the remote switch /annun ciator on the i nstrum ent
panel are illumin ated.
