Changing your PC's parallel port mode to ECP
Chang ing your comp ute r's p aralle l p ort mod e to ECP incre ase s sp e e d and re liab ility of
d ata transfe rs with the Bitronics Switche s. Be low are the ste p s on chang ing the se tting s
on ce rtain comp ute rs. Do this on all the comp ute rs conne cte d to the switch. If your
comp ute r is not liste d he re , p le ase che ck the ir we b site , or call the ir te chnical sup p ort.

ACER
1. While the comp ute r is b ooting , follow the d ire ctions on the scre e n: To e nte r
Se tup , p re ss CTRL+ AL T+ ESC.
2. Follow the le g e nd on how to scroll throug h the op tions.
3. Whe n you re ach the op tion Paralle l Port Mod e , choose ECP.
4. Follow the le g e nd d ire ctions to save the se tting and e xit Se tup .
AST
1. While the comp ute r is b ooting , follow the d ire ctions on the scre e n: To e nte r
Se tup , p re ss CTRL+ AL T+ ESC. (If you have a 486 comp ute r, the d ire ctions mig ht

2. Use an arrow ke y to se le ct the Ad vance me nu ite m.
3. Use an arrow ke y to se le ct the p aralle l p ort se tting and the mod e fie ld .
4. Pre ss ENTER to g e t the mod e list.
5. Se le ct the mod e with the hig he st p e rformance (e .g . ECP) and the n p re ss ENTER.
6. Pre ss F10 to save the BIO S (b asic inp ut/outp ut syste m) chang e s.
7. Pre ss ENTER to close the BIO S se tting s wind ow.
Dell
