b e se t e ithe r for Mass Storag e De vice (if the d e vice ad d s a d rive le tte r to your
syste m), or Scanne r (for all othe r typ e s of d e vice s).
The Bitronics software may not function p rop e rly in some syste ms if the re is no
De fault Printe r se t. To d o this, ad d a p rinte r using the Ad d Printe r Wizard
(click Start, se le ct Se tting s, d oub le -click on Printe rs), and just use the
Ge ne ric/Te xt O nly d rive r. Re me mb e r to use Local Printe r and LPT1 whe n the
wizard asks you. This will the n b e se t as your d e fault p rinte r, so that the
Bitronics software can work p rop e rly.
Removing and Adding the Bitronics Switch Icon from
the System Tray
• To re move the icon, simp ly rig ht click on it, and answe r Y e s to
the p romp t.
• To re load the icon b ack into the syste m tray, click on Start, se le ct
Prog rams, se le ct Be lkin Bitronics Switch and se le ct
AutoSwitch-Multi PCs.
ADVANCED USER TIP:
If you are using d e vice s with p ass-throug h p orts (like Zip
Scanne rs), you can conne ct a p rinte r to the p ass-throug h p ort and use the
othe r d e vice p ort on the Bitronics switch to conne ct to anothe r d e vice . Just b e
sure that the p rinte r d rive r has its Port se t to the corre ct d e vice p ort. For
e xamp le , if you wish to share 2 p rinte rs, 1 Zip
comp ute rs, conne ct the Zip ® Drive to Port A, the Scanne r to Port B, the first
p rinte r to the p ass-throug h of the Zip
p ass-throug h of the scanne r. In the Bitronics software , se t Port A to Mass
Storag e De vice , and Port B to Scanne r. The n in the Printe r Prop e rtie s/ d e tails,
se t the Print to the following Port to LPx1- PA (auto switch) for the first p rinte r,
and LPx1- PB (auto switch) for the se cond p rinte r. In g e ne ral, only p rinte rs can
b e conne cte d to p ass-throug h p orts.
