The frame selector

The frame selector (9) extends the possibilities of
the viewfinder on the LEICA MP. This built in uni-
versal viewfinder allows you to activate those
bright-line frames at any time, which do not be-
long to the lens currently being used. You can then
see immediately if, for composition reasons, it
would be better to photograph the relevant sub-
ject using a different focal length.
If, on the standard LEICA MP version*, the lever
is turned outwards, i.e. away from the lens, the
frames for the focal lengths 35 and 135 mm ap-
pear.
If the lever is turned to its vertical central position,
the frames for the focal lengths 50 and 75 mm
appear.
If the lever is turned inwards, i.e. towards the lens,
the frames for the focal lengths 28 and 90 mm
appear.
* For the bright-line frame/s and/or frame pairs respectively
mirrored into the viewfinder image with the alternative view-
finder magnifications and frame sets available within the Leica
á la carte program, please see the table on p. 89.
