  • Page 18 Lise Sarfati Lise Sarfati, born in 1958, lives in Paris. She graduated from the Sorbonne in Slavonic Studies, specialising in Russia. The subject of her thesis was “Photography of the 1920s”. In 1986, she was appointed in-house photographer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris. In 1989, she travelled to Russia on a scholarship from the Paris Ministry of Culture and the Villa Medicis Hors Les Murs.

  • Page 22 Aperture, Double Take and Artforum. In 1991, Mermelstein was awarded the Aaron Siskind scholarship for photographers. In 1999, he won the “European Publishers’ Award”, part of the Leica Camera Group's cultural program, which enabled him to publish his first book, “Sidewalk”. His second book “no title here” was published in 2003.

  • Page 26 Intuitive photography As an alternative to the familiar manual exposure adjustment – which is still available on the camera – the LEICA M7 offers a convenient, continuously variable automatic function with exposure value storage for the shutter release. This allows you to focus easily, compose quickly and concentrate completely on taking the photograph.
  • Page 27 Versatile exposures The M7's many useful features open up a host of compositional options. TTL flash exposure metering makes flash photography more reliable. The synchronisation speed of up to 1/1000s and flash with the second shutter curtain provide a wealth of creative scope.
  • Page 28 Convenient work Ergonomically positioned right next to the shutter release button, the ON/OFF switch turns on the LEICA M7's electronic features and locks the shutter release when the camera is off. The film speed can be set either manually or automatically (DX coding).
