For tasks that do not require large amounts of mass storage, the storage node has
onboard disk storage that is typically sufficient. The storage nodes can be a
combination of any of the cluster node components.
Storage servers
For the storage server option, the Cluster 1350 system uses the following
components:
v IBM System Storage DS3200 SAS single controller
v IBM System Storage DS3200 SAS dual controller
v IBM System Storage DS3400 Fibre Channel SAS
v IBM System Storage DS4700 Express
v IBM System Storage DS4800 Model 82 Midrange Disk System
v IBM System Storage DS4800 Model 84 Midrange Disk System
v IBM System Storage DS4800 Model 86 Midrange Disk System
All servers interface with the cluster so that the storage nodes communicate with
large RAID-protected arrays of storage.
Storage expansion units
The cluster supports the following components:
v IBM TotalStorage DS4000 EXP810 disk storage expansion unit
v EXP3000 SAS JBOD single ESM
Fibre Channel adapters, switches, and expansion cards
