warning sounds, the battery MUST be
replaced. Never disconnect the battery to
silence the smoke alarm.

ONOXIDE
If you are in a park trailer with either a
nearby tow vehicle engine running or the
generator (if so equipped) running there is
a potential for exhaust fumes to filter back
into the park trailer. Avoid inhaling exhaust
gases as they contain carbon monoxide,
which is a potentially toxic gas that is
colorless and odorless.
Carbon monoxide (CO) is an insidious poison.
It is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas.
Many cases of reported carbon monoxide
poisoning indicate while victims are aware
they are not well, they become so disoriented
they are unable to save themselves by either

assistance. Young children and household
pets may be the first affected.

The following symptoms are related to
carbon monoxide poisoning and should be
discussed
with
all
household:
Mild exposure - Slight headache, nausea,
vomiting, fatigue (often described as "flu-
like" symptoms).
Medium exposure - Throbbing headaches,
drowsiness, confusion, fast heart rate.
Extreme
exposure
unconsciousness, heart and lung failure.
Exposure to carbon monoxide can cause
brain damage, death.
The CO alarm is designed to detect the toxic
carbon monoxide fumes that result from
incomplete
combustion,
emitted from appliances, furnaces, fireplaces
and auto exhaust. A CO alarm is NOT A
SUBSTITUTE for other combustible gas, fire
or smoke alarms.
There are hazards against which carbon
monoxide detection may not be effective,
such as natural gas leaks or explosions.
Individuals with medical problems, or who are
hard of hearing, should consider using
warning devices that provide both audible and
visual signals.
What you should do if the alarm sounds
Actuation of this alarm may indicate the
presence of carbon monoxide that can
KILL YOU. This alarm will only indicate the
presence of carbon monoxide gas at the
sensor. Carbon monoxide gas may be
present in other areas.
The CO alarm will automatically sense when
the level of carbon monoxide in the air
reaches dangerous levels. You should stay
outside the park trailer in fresh air until the CO
alarm is silenced. When the CO alarm
sounds, do not stand too close to it. The
sound produced by the CO alarm is loud
because it is designed to wake a person in an
emergency. Prolonged exposure to the CO
alarm at a close distance may be harmful to
your hearing.
