A flashing LED on the foot control panel likely indicates that a function is locked. When a function is locked, it will not operate. To unlock it, press the “lock” button and at the same time press the desired function button. An LED light will show when the function is locked.
1. INTRODUCTION The Sorrento bed is an electrically actuated care bed which has a range of functions and positional movements that assist caregivers and provides for patient comfort. Ease of use, functionality, serviceability, and cleaning practicality are key features of the bed. The bed has a fabricated steel structure with a powder coated finish.
2. WARNINGS & CAUTIONS It is important that this manual be read in its entirety prior to the operation of the bed. The manual is designed to ensure that users are equipped with the information required to competently operate the bed and its accessories. It is recommended that the manual be kept in an easily accessible place for quick reference.

2. WARNINGS & CAUTIONS - Continued GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGS • Always use a mattress of the correct size and type. • Before operating the bed make sure that the patient is safely positioned to avoid entrapment. • Before transporting the bed make sure that the bed is at a suitable height to move without stooping, or straining.
3. ELECTRONIC FUNCTIONS 3.1 Handset & Foot Board Control Panel Operation The Sorrento’s bed adjustments are powered by four electric actuators, which are controlled by the buttons on the handset and foot board control panel. 4. ELECTRONIC FUNCTIONS DESCRIBED NOTE: Adjustment occurs only while a button is pressed. Adjustment will stop when the button is released, or the movement selection reaches the end of its range of adjustment. 4.1 Backrest Adjustment WARNING Care should be taken whilst operating the backrest function to ensure hands and fingers are away from potential squeeze hazards.
4. ELECTRONIC FUNCTIONS DESCRIBED - Continued 4.4 Auto Contour Positioning NOTE: This control function is available on both control devices fitted to the bed. To move the auto contour positioning press and hold the appropriate button on the control device. Auto Contour Positioning provides synchronised movement of the backrest and knee positioning in one operation.
4. ELECTRONIC FUNCTIONS DESCRIBED - Continued 4.8 Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) NOTE: The Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Function (CPR) is available only on the Foot Board Control Panel. NOTE: Pressing the CPR button will override any locked out functions. CAUTION When electronic emergency patient positioning functions are activated, care should be taken over the potential of the beds moving parts to either trap or crush the patient, caregivers and or other equipment.
4. ELECTRONIC FUNCTIONS DESCRIBED - Continued NOTE: The beds batteries should be charged for 24 hours prior to first use. NOTE: Keep the bed plugged to mains power source for optimum performance. NOTE: Bed adjustment will be slower when the power cord is unplugged, and the bed is powered from its batteries only.
5. GENERAL BED OPERATION 5.1 Castor System The Sorrento bed uses eight 75mm Tente twin wheeled castors for easy manoeuvrability (four braking castors and four free-wheeling castors). Operating the Brakes • To activate and release the braking castors use the pedals at each side and end of the bed. Simply push down on the red lever using the toe of the shoe to brake and the green lever to release the brake.
5. GENERAL BED OPERATION - Continued 5.2 Bed Extension The integral bed extension is easily extended to add an extra 195mm of length to the mattress platform. The bed extension is locked in the closed and fully open positions by two threaded hand wheels located towards the foot end of the bed on either side of the bed platform.

When the side rail is raised to its full height position it will automatically lock in the positioning hole on the rails clamp plate. The release/lock knob feature can be both visually and audibly confirmed.
5. GENERAL BED OPERATION - Continued 5.6 Side Rail Safety Lock Indicator The side rail locating pin has a yellow coating that allows for visual inspection of the locking device. When the side rail is in the raised position, viewing the release knob from the side there should be no yellow shaft visible.
8. CLEANING WARNING Before cleaning always disconnect the bed from the mains power source. Note: It is strongly recommended that protective clothing be used when carrying out cleaning processes on the Sorrento bed. Note: The following procedure also applies to the beds accessories but does not include mattresses.
Note: Other than general maintenance activities all other service, or repair work must be performed by qualified and trained persons who are approved by Arjo. WARNING The bed must be disconnected from the mains power supply before starting any maintenance activity.
