Pump fails to prime or primes slowly:

Leaks in the suction line.

Loose gasket connection due to shrinkage of the
gasket.

Collapsed or clogged suction line.

Not enough water in the casing for priming.

Suction lift is too great (the greater the suction lift, the
lower the capacity and pressure).
