The "Free-Belt" fusing system is new with this product.
Designed for quick start up (QSU).
Uses a free turning fusing belt.
(More details below in the Notes section.)
Slide 236
The fusing belt rotates freely on the heat pipe. It is driven by the pressure roller.
The heat pipe has a low friction surface, the fusing belt is lubricated
internally with a layer of grease, and the nip pad has a low friction cover.
These features enable the fusing belt to turn easily.
The pressure roller presses against the nip pad to form the nip zone, where the
image is fused to the paper by heat and pressure.
The stay holds the nip pad in place.
The stay has a mirrored surface facing the fusing lamps to concentrate the
energy from the lamps directly on the inner surface of the heat pipe.
