7. Daily Inspection and Maintenance

Attach the cable to the digital camera.
Open the terminal cover of the digital camera, and
connect the respective cables to the digital terminal, PC
terminal, and remote control terminal.

Attach the camera cover to the digital camera.
Place the camera cover hook onto the strap mount of
the digital camera. Fit the cover screw into the threaded
socket for the tripod on the bottom of the camera, and
secure the camera cover.

7.5.3 Cleaning the Digital Camera (imaging sensor)

In this digital camera, a self-cleaning sensor unit is activated when the power switch is set to the ON or
position and to the OFF position for automatically removing dust and other substances that are
adhering to the imaging sensor front surface. The user does not need to pay particular attention to this
function in normal operation.
The self-cleaning sensor unit is capable of removing most dust and substances that can appear in images.
Use the operation below to perform automatic cleaning.

Turn on the power of the retinal camera body.

Set the power switch of the digital camera from ON to OFF, or from
The self-cleaning sensor unit on the front surface of the CMOS sensor (low-pass filter) is activated
and performs cleaning.

Return the main body to its original state, and check that the dust and other substances
have been removed.
Note: If the above procedure does not remove the dust and other substances, the cause may be
something else. Please contact a Canon representative or distributor.
