You may have an application running that consumes a great deal of power due to frequent
accessing of the hard disk.
Use the power adapter as frequently as possible.
The maximum brightness may have been set for the screen.

Adjust the screen brightness using the key [Fn] and the key [F6] or [F7]. Setting the screen
brightness slightly lower will reduce power consumption.
The power-management features have been deactivated.
Ê
Check the settings in the BIOS Setup (in the Power menu), and adjust the parameters.

Check the power-management features of your operating system.

The Suspend/Resume button does not react

The system may be processing.
Ê
Wait until the system has completed processing.
The Standby function has been deactivated in the BIOS Setup.
To run the BIOS Setup you must reboot your notebook.
Ê
Press the Standby mode button to reboot the notebook.
Ê
When the text Press <ESC> for diagnostic Screen or <F2> for SETUP appears,
press the [F2] key immediately.
Ê
Activate the Standby function in the Power menu.

No sound or minimal volume

Check that the hardware volume control is correctly set.
Ê
Double-click on the loudspeaker icon in the task bar and adjust the volume.
Ê
Make sure that the sound driver is correctly installed under Control Panel - System - Device
Manager.
Ê
Check with the key combination [Fn] + [F3] whether the loudspeakers are switched off.
Ê
Use the key combination [Fn] + [F8] or [Fn] + [F9] to check the volume.

It is not possible to boot from the external floppy disk drive

If you have an external USB floppy disk drive, check whether the settings for the USB
devices are correct in the BIOS Setup.
To run the BIOS Setup you must reboot your notebook.

Press the Suspend/Resume button to reboot the notebook.

When the text <ESC> Diagnostic screen
appears, press the [F2] key immediately.
Ê
In the Advanced menu, set the USB Features field to Enabled.
Ê
Set the field Boot Device Priority in the Boot menu to Floppy Disk Drive.
