Installing into an existing
chimney
In this method a cap should also be installed to
keep rain from entering the chimney. The chimney con-
necter must extend up through the damper area and be
sealed to prevent draft leakage.
One disadvantage of this method is that it is harder
to clean the vent pipe; therefore, there is a tendancy not
to clean it as often as needed.

Installing into an existing
fireplace chimney
In Canada and some places in the US it is required
that the vent pipe extend all the way to the top of the
chimney. In Canada and some places in the US it is re-
quired that the vent pipe extend all the way to the top of
the chimney. The pipe or liner inside the chimney should
be 5"diameter.
In this method a cap should also be installed to
keep the rain from entering the chimney.
