7 (30) 3. Safety instructions for using the attachment Please bear in mind that safety is the result of several factors. The loader-attachment combination is highly powerful and improper or careless use or maintenance may cause serious personal injury or property damage.
  • Page 8 8 (30)  Never leave the driver’s seat when the attachment is running or if the auxiliary hydraulics control lever is locked on. The blades move for a short period after the hydraulic supply has been shut off. Wait until the blades have stopped completely before going near the attachment.
  • Page 9 9 (30) Stuck blade can move and cut when removed blockage - Risk of cutting and severing. Never perform any cleaning, maintenance, service, or adjustment tasks if the loader engine is running or if the auxiliary hydraulics is locked on. Blade bar that has DANGER become stuck may move unexpectedly when removing a blockage because of residual pressure left in the hydraulic systems may cause cutting motion, creating severing...

  • Page 15: Connecting And Disconnecting Hydraulic Hoses

Follow safe stopping procedure before disconnecting hydraulics. The hydraulic connectors of the Cutting bar S30 fit to the outlets of the mechanical A431070 or hydraulic A424552 side arm. All three couplings must be connected to prevent damage to the hydraulic motor.
  • Page 16 16 (30) Disconnecting hydraulic hoses: Before disconnecting the fittings, lower the attachment to safe position on solid and level surface. Turn the control lever of the auxiliary hydraulics to its neutral position. When uncoupling the attachment, always disconnect the hydraulic couplings before unlocking the quick coupling, to prevent hose damage and any oil spills.

  • Page 19: Using The Cutting Bar

If you do not have the relevant manuals, do not use the cutting bar. Contact your Avant dealer or service point for another copy of the manual. Operate the controls of the loader and its attachment in a careful and smooth manner. Always avoid sharp turns and sudden changes in speed or direction whenever using the cutting bar for the best stability of the loader.
  • Page 20 20 (30) Recommended operating speed and maximum allowed oil flow: Adjust engine RPM so that the loader's auxiliary hydraulic flow is within the specified range for the  cutting bar. Too little flow will not move the blades fast enough for good cutting results. Correct flow makes sure that the blades move fast enough for a good finish.
  • Page 21: Working On Uneven Ground

21 (30) 6.3 Working on uneven ground Extra caution is needed when using the equipment on inclined terrains and slopes. Drive slowly especially on inclined, uneven, or slippery surfaces, and avoid sudden changes in speed or direction. Operate the controls of the loader with careful and smooth movements.
  • Page 22: Transport Position

22 (30) 6.5 Transport position When driving with the loader, keep the cutting bar lifted off the ground and tilted sideways, as shown in the adjacent figure. Also keep the hydraulic boom completely retracted during transport. For safety, it is recommended to disconnect the auxiliary hydraulics outlet during transport drive.
  • Page 23: Uncoupling And Storage

23 (30) 6.6 Uncoupling and storage Uncouple and store the attachment on level ground. The best way to store the attachment is a place where it is protected from direct sunlight, rain, and extreme temperatures.  Avoid leaving the attachment laying directly on the ground for long periods of time. Place it on blocks of wood or on a pallet, for example.
  • Page 24: Storage Of Uncoupled Cutting Bar

24 (30) 6.6.2 Storage of uncoupled cutting bar When storing the cutting bar for longer periods than temporary uncoupling from the loader, the cutting bar should be disconnected from the side arm and stored separately. Avoid leaving the attachment laying directly on the ground. Place it on blocks of wood or on a pallet, for example.
  • Page 25: Maintenance And Service

Finding any fault means that the hydraulic hose or component must be replaced and the equipment must not be used until it is repaired. Spare parts are available from your nearest AVANT retailer or authorised service point. Leave the repair work to professional service technicians, if you don’t have adequate knowledge and experience about hydraulic assemblies and how to perform the repairing safely.
  • Page 26: Cleaning The Attachment

26 (30) 7.2 Cleaning the attachment Clean the attachment regularly to prevent accumulation of dirt which is more difficult to remove. A pressure washer and mild detergent can be used for cleaning. Do not use strong solvents, and do not spray directly at the hydraulic components, or at the labels on the attachment.
  • Page 27: Mower Blades

27 (30) 7.5 Mower blades There are a total of 19 blades, product number 65810. Their teethed edges help to retain good cutting properties over a long time. Damaged blades can be replaced, and also blade guides should be checked and replaced as necessary.
