Using CDs and DVDs Your computer might have a DVD ROM drive or recordable DVD drive installed. DVD drives use industry-standard, 12 cm (4.75-inch) CD media or DVD media. If your computer comes with a DVD drive, the drive can read DVD-ROM discs, DVD-R discs, DVD-RAM discs, DVD-RW discs, and all types of CDs, such as CD-ROM discs, CD-RW discs, CD-R discs, and audio CDs.
If your computer comes with a recordable DVD drive, you can use the drive to record CDs or DVDs. To record a CD or DVD, do one of the following: • On the Windows 7 operating system, you have either the Corel DVD MovieFactory Lenovo Edition program or the Power2Go program installed on your computer.

Keyboard shortcuts provide an easier alternative to interact with your computer as you work with the Windows operating system and most applications.
When you register your computer, information is entered into a database, which enables Lenovo to contact you in case of a recall or other severe problem. After you register your computer with Lenovo, you will receive quicker service when you call Lenovo for help. In addition, some locations offer extended privileges and services to registered users.

Updating (flashing) the BIOS from your operating system Note: Because Lenovo makes constant improvements to its Web sites, the Web page contents are subject to change without notice, including the contents referenced in the following procedure.
Recovering from a POST/BIOS update failure If the power to your computer is interrupted while the POST and BIOS is being updated, your computer might not restart correctly. If this happens, perform the following procedure to recover from the POST and BIOS update failure.
Attention: Do not download updated device drivers from the Windows Update Web site. The device drivers provided on the Windows Web site have not been tested by Lenovo and using them might cause unexpected problems. Obtain updated device drivers from Lenovo.
To open the System Update program, see “Accessing Lenovo programs on the Windows 7 operating system” on page 5 or “Accessing Lenovo programs on the Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 operating system” on page 6. Cleaning your computer It is a good practice to clean your computer periodically to protect the surfaces and ensure trouble-free operation. CAUTION: Be sure to turn off the computer and monitor power switches before cleaning the computer and monitor screen. Computer Use only mild cleaning solutions and a damp cloth to clean the painted surfaces of the computer.
A log book can help you or a Lenovo technician determine if a problem is related to change in hardware, change in software, or some other action that might have taken place.
