Carefully inspect the entire load chain. As
illustrated in Figure 14, measure five consecutive
links with callipers to measure the length. Check
every three feet and especially where excessive
wear is indicated. Any load chain that shows
noticeable deformation or heat influence must be
replaced with a new one. Never extend load chain
by welding a second piece to the original.
