Note
This configuration supports more than one PCIe-based NIC in slots 2 and 3.
This topic explains how to configure ports on Windows-based nodes.
Procedure
1. Find the PCI slot information for each network adapter.
a. From the Windows Device Manager, select Network adapters.
A list of network adaptors installed on the server is displayed.
b. Double-click each network adapter in the list to open its Properties dialog
box.
The network adapter location is displayed in the General tab, in the
Location field. For example:
PCI Slot 2 (PCI bus 4, device 0, function 0)
In the above example, the network adapter is on PCI 4:0, because 4 is the
bus number, and 0 is the function number.
2. Change the name of each network adapter to its VxFlex OS role:
a. From the Windows Start menu, select Network Connections.
b. Right-click the network adapter to be modified, and select Properties.
The Networking tab > Connect Using field displays the network adaptor
used for the connection.
c. Match the network adapter listed under Connect Using to the appropriate
network adapter identified in the previous step.
d. Once you know the network adapter's VxFlex OS role, find the name for that
network adapter role type in the appropriate server configuration table,
located in
PowerEdge R640 and R740xd port designations - Windows
page 36.
e. Right-click the network adapter and select Rename, type the name you just
identified, and then press ENTER.
