Recording sound from an
external audio device
To use an external audio device, or a
microphone other than the internal
microphone, change the following settings.

Select the input source.
Set the INPUT 1 switch H and INPUT
2 switch A according to the devices
connected to the INPUT 1 jack G and
INPUT 2 jack B, respectively.

(mixer, etc.)
Dynamic microphones or
microphones with a built-
in battery
+48V powered (phantom
power) microphone
• If you connect a device that does not
support +48V phantom power, a
malfunction may result from setting this
switch to MIC+48V. Check before
connecting the device.
• When there is no audio device connected to
an INPUT jack, set the INPUT switch of
that jack to LINE to prevent noise.

Set the input level of the
microphone.
• Set the input level of an XLR
microphone in [INPUT1 TRIM]/
[INPUT2 TRIM] in the menu (p. 157).
Adjust the level according to the
sensitivity of the microphone.
• You can set an input level between
–60 dBu (+12 dB) and –30 dBu
(–18 dB) in 6 dB increments.
The default setting is –48 dBu (0 dB).

channel.

• When using a stereo microphone that has two
XLR plugs, connect the left channel (L) to the
Switch
INPUT 1 jack, and the right channel (R) to the
position
INPUT 2 jack. Set CH-1 to INPUT 1, and CH-2
LINE
to INPUT 2.

Interface Shoe-compatible microphone.

Connect a compatible
microphone (sold separately) to
the Multi-Interface Shoe.

Select the microphone using the
menu.

INPUT SELECT] t [INPUT1] with
the SEL/SET dial J.
(AUDIO SET) t [CH2
INPUT SELECT] t [INPUT2] with
the SEL/SET dial J.
Select (AUDIO SET) t [CH1
INPUT SELECT] t [MI SHOE MIC]
with the SEL/SET dial.
To set CH-2:
Select (AUDIO SET) t [CH2
INPUT SELECT] t [MI SHOE MIC]
with the SEL/SET dial.
