To play Stereo Mix, make sure to enable the "Play stereo mix to digital output" first.
Next, configure the Speakers as the default playback device under the Windows Control
Panel for Playback Devices.
With Stereo Mix enabled, audio effects like SBX Pro Studio, EAX, Equalizer and others
can be applied to the digital output. Without this feature, audio effects can only be heard
through analog speakers or through headphones out.
As noted above, enabling this may create some latency between the audio source and
audio playback. Here's an example of what this means: When streaming television,
movies, or other recordings, you likely will not notice any difference; the latency isn't
enough to bother your immersion or even suggest that there is latency. However, if
you're playing a game with this setting enabled, and the game requires you to press a
button at exactly the moment you hear a sound, you'll likely find that there is a small
enough latency to throw you off. You'll know the latency is caused by this setting if you
disable this setting, set the Windows Default Playback device to Digital Output (SPDIF),
test the game again, and find your success rate increases significantly. There is no "cure"
for this latency since audio must be remixed before it can be passed to the output. If
this latency causes problems, then you will need to simply set Digital Output as your
default playback device.
The last section on the left menu is the profile section. This will allow you to save all
settings done across all sections as a preset, and load the profile as needed.
The final tab of the Sound Blaster Audio Suite is the
"Advanced Features" tab. This tab has the singular option
to enable or disable "Play stereo mix to digital output".
Check this box to enable output through SPDIF and
speaker simultaneously. With this enabled, however, there
can be significant latency between the analog and digital
output.
