1. DESCRIPTION OF HARDWARE

Gigabit Uplink Module

The Enterasys Networks VHIM1000-S1TX module is designed for use in
Vertical Horizon switch models that have a Gigabit Ethernet transceiver
slot. At present, suitable units include these Vertical Horizon models –
VH-2402S and VH-4802. Detailed information about configuring these
modules and advice about Gigabit Ethernet configuration rules can be
found in the switch's User Guide.
CAUTION
Enterasys' VHIM1000-S1TX module provides a Gigabit port which can be
used for a high-speed backbone or server connection. It contains one
1000Base-T port that can support a link of up to 100 m (328 ft) using
Category 5 cable.

Gigabit Port LEDs

Port LEDs are located on the module as well as on the front panel of the
switch for "at-a-glance" network monitoring. The following table details the
indicator functions provided by the switch:

VHIM1000-S1TX module, first disconnect the switch from
the main power supply. For full safety instructions, please
refer to the User Guide that accompanies the switch.
Function
Lights steady to indicate that the port is operating at 10 Mbps.
Lights steady to indicate that the port is operating at 100 Mbps.
Lights steady to indicate that the port is operating at 1000 Mbps.
Lights steady to indicate that a module is installed in this slot.
Lights steady to indicate that traffic is passing through the port.
