AIR CLEANER SERVICE

A dirty air cleaner w ill restrict air flow to the carburetor. To prevent
carburetor m alfunction, service the air cleaner regularly. Service m ore
frequently w hen operating the generator in extrem ely dusty areas.
Using gasoline or flammable solvent to clean the air filter can cause a
fire or explosion. Use only soapy water or nonflammable solvent.
Operating the engine w ithout an air filter, or w ith a dam aged air filter,
w ill allow dirt to enter the engine, causing rapid engine w ear. This type
of dam age is not covered by the Distributor's Lim ited Warranty.
1. Loosen the cover screw and rem ove
the m aintenance cover.
2. Loosen the air cleaner cover screw ,
and rem ove the air cleaner cover.
3. Wash the m ain and outer filter in a
solution of household detergent
an d w ar m w at er , t h en r i n se
t h o r o u g h l y ,
nonflam m able or high flash point
solvent. Allow the air filters to dry
thoroughly.
4. Soak the m ain and outer filter in
clean engine oil and squeeze out the
excess oil. The engine w ill sm oke
during initial startup if too m uch oil
is left in the air filters.
