Seal Replacement:
1. Use a piece of tubing or copper pipe to press old seal half
out of seal plate (Figure 5A).
2. Use a screwdriver to pry old ceramic ring and rubber seal
ring out of impeller (see Figure 5B).
3. Clean cavity in impeller.

Be sure you do not scratch or nick pol-
ished surfaces of seal, or seal may leak, causing flood-
ing.
4. Apply a thin coat of non-hardening Permatex to outside
of seal ring. BE SURE that no Permatex gets on polished
seal face. Using a cardboard washer to protect polished
carbon seal face, press new seal half into seal plate with
tubing or pipe (see Figure 6).

SERVICE

Pump Reassembly:
1. Slide rubber slinger onto motor shaft; mount seal plate on
end of shaft. Push seal plate onto shaft until ball bearing
race is seated in tolerance ring in seal plate cavity. Take
care not to damage seal as it passes over end of shaft.
2. Screw impeller onto shaft end; do not damage seal face.
3. Reinstall diffuser on seal plate; secure with two screws.
4. Slip spring washer onto a long, thin screwdriver blade;
use screwdriver to guide washer into position at rear of
motor housing.
NOTICE: Install spring washer with toes pointing up (to-
ward end of shaft). Be sure that screwdriver does not nick
insulation on motor windings.
5. With drain hole in seal plate down, slide motor shaft as-
sembly into place in motor. Toes on spring washer should
ride on shaft end. Seat seal plate in motor housing flange.
6. Install square-cut O-Ring on diffuser; slide pump body
over diffuser and seal plate until it seats against motor
housing flange. Install 4 nuts on studs and tighten.
7. Reinstall motor brushes (see "Motor Brush Replacement",
Page 4).
