Warning; Filter Self-Cleaning - Sharp WJ-500 Operation Manual

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS: READ CAREFULLY AND KEEP FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.
1. Only use tap water which is suitable for drinking. Do not use groundwater.
2. Always use the unit with 1 Activated Carbon (AC) cartridge and 2 Ultra Filter (UF) cartridges fi tted
correctly.
3. Use the unit after running water through it for 10 seconds everyday.
4. Use the unit after running water through it 3 minutes if it has not been used for more than 2 days.
If it has not been used for more than 1 month, carry out "fi lter self-cleaning" for 5 minutes, and then run
the water through the unit for 10 seconds.
5. Do not run hot water (over 38°C) through the unit.
(This will cause malfunctions for the unit and tubes.)
6. If you want to keep the purifi ed water through the unit, pour the purifi ed water into the clean sealed
container. Keep it in a refrigerator and use the purifi ed water within 2 days.
7. Do not connect the tubes supplied, into other appliances.
8. Do not use the purifi ed water for fi sh-breeding tanks, etc.
9. Keep the unit from freezing.
10. Be careful when cleaning the unit. Corrosive cleansers may damage the exterior.
11. FolIow the instructions in this manual for correct care and maintenance of the fi lter cartridges. See page
E-6. Never touch the connecting part of both cartridges and the unit when replacing the fi lter cartridges.
12. This water purifi er is for household use.
13. Only SERVICE CENTRE APPROVED BY SHARP shouId service this water purifi er. Contact your nearest
SERVICE CENTRE APPROVED BY SHARP for any problems, adjustments, or repairs.
14. Neither the manufacturer nor the distributors can accept any Iiability for damage to the unit or personal
injury resulting from failure to observe the correct installation and usage.

FILTER SELF-CLEANING

This appliance has "fi lter self-cleaning" function for ultra
fi lter for purifying water.
"Filter self-cleaning" cleans the fi lter with purifi ed water
from the "Ultra fi lter for cleaning" instead of tap water.
It removes the dirt of fi lter and prevents the clogging.
Carrying out "filter self-cleaning" once a week, you
can maintain the fl ow of purifi ed water for the long
term. See page E-6 for the standard life time of each
cartridge.
NOTE:
When the purifi ed water fl ow has been decreased even
if "fi lter self-cleaning" has been carried out, replacement
of fi lter cartridge may be necessary. See page E-6.
Terms for Water in This Operation Manual
Purified water: Water which has been filtered
through this unit.
Tap water/Water: Water which is supplied from
your faucet directly (not fi ltered
through this unit.)

Select "PURIFIED" with
the Purifi ed/tap select
lever of the diverter
valve.

Select "FILTER
CLEANING" with the
mode select lever of
the unit.

Open the tap, and run the water through the
unit. Keep the water fl ow from the diverter
valve for about 5 minutes.
The dirty water will be drained through the
drain tube.

After 5 minutes, close
the tap and change the
mode select lever to
"PURIFIED".

Open the tap, and run the water through the
unit for 10 seconds.
