Directives and standards

Standards that are complied with
The 1PH1 motors comply with the following standards:
• IEC/EN 60034-1: Rotating electrical machines – Dimensioning and operating behavior
• IEC/EN 60204-1: Safety of machinery – Electrical equipment of machines; general
requirements
• UL1004-1: Rotating electrical machines – General requirements
Where applicable, the 1PH1 motors are in conformance with the following parts of
IEC/EN 60034:

Relevant directives
The following directives are relevant for the 1PH1 motors.
European Low-Voltage Directive
The 1PH1 motors comply with the Low-Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU.
European Machinery Directive
The 1PH1 motors do not fall within the area of validity covered by the Machinery Directive.
However, the use of the products in a typical machine application has been fully assessed for
compliance with the main regulations in this directive concerning health and safety.
European EMC Directive
The 1PH1 motors do not fall within the area of validity covered by the EMC Directive. The
products are not considered as devices in the sense of the directive.
European RoHS Directive
The SIMOTICS motor series complies with the Directive 2011/65/EU regarding limiting the use
of certain hazardous substances.
