8. Remove the tie rod arms from the knuckle. You
may have to tap on the end of the arm with a leather or
plastic mallet to separate the arm from the knuckle.
Remove the key from the tie rod arm.

9. If necessary, remove the tie rod ends from the tie
rod according to the following procedure:
a. Mark the position where each tie rod end is
installed in the tie rod (Figure 7). (The position of tie rod
ends determines toe in).
b. Remove the bolts and nuts from the clamp on
the tie rod.
c. Remove the tie rod ends from the tie rod.
NOTE: It is imperative to perform a front end alignment
to reset the toe in after tie rod ends are replaced (Refer
to Sect. 2C Alignment Procedure").
Removing the knuckle
A. Preparation
1. Set the park brake.
2. Block the axle and coach body.
3. Remove the air from the brake system and
disconnect the air lines from the brakes.
4. Remove the wheel and tire assembly. (See the
Operator's manual for this procedure).
B. Hub removal
1. Remove the brake drum.
2. Remove the hub (Figure 8).
